Production Planner & Supply Chain Officer

Hamilton is the base for this planning and supply chain job at a growing food manufacturer in the primary sector, which sells mainly to China and Southeast Asia. The successful applicant takes ownership of production planning and links production to sales, and with the deer velvet peak season continuing to February/March, there is no time for a slow start.

This is a first leadership step with one direct report and room to grow. Hours are 40 per week with extra in the peak season, starting as soon as possible. The position is open to applicants already in New Zealand, and offshore applications are not accepted. The employer is accredited with Immigration NZ and welcomes applicants who need sponsorship for an Accredited Employer Work Visa, provided they have New Zealand work experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build production schedules to capacity, cost and quality targets, and forecast demand with a longer-term operational outlook.
  • Shape how SAP adds value by looking after master data, inventories and bills of materials.
  • Keep the supply chain moving, including packaging suppliers and dispatch.
  • Partner with QA so that traceability, MPI and export market requirements are met.

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Experience planning production in a manufacturing setting, with strong forecasting skills.
  • Hands-on ERP experience, with SAP strongly preferred and training available.
  • Background in food or primary industry manufacturing, plus QA knowledge.
  • Communicates clearly and handles customer expectations confidently; practical, resilient and flexible when deadlines shift.
  • Desirable: team leadership, or health and safety experience, or knowledge of exporting to Asia.
  • Shortlisted candidates face reference checks and a Ministry of Justice criminal record check.
