Newcastle has an opening for a Quality Assurance Manager to lead quality, food safety and compliance at an established food processing site in New South Wales. You would own the quality system, keep the site audit-ready and guide a QA team in a regulated production setting.
Expect audits, corrective and preventive actions, traceability checks, mock recalls and close work with production and management teams to resolve issues. Visa sponsorship is available for a suitable overseas candidate.

Key Responsibilities
- Be the site's lead on quality assurance and food safety
- Look after the quality management and food safety systems so they work in practice
- Keep Approved Arrangements up to date and tighten the compliance routines tied to them
- Ensure the plant meets Australian food safety and regulatory obligations
- Plan and run internal, customer and regulator audits, keeping the site ready for the next one
- Dig into quality incidents, non-conformances and process failures, then drive corrective and preventive actions to close-out
- Run traceability drills, verification programs and mock recalls
- Keep records, quality documents and compliance data complete and accurate
- Watch production against the set food safety and quality standards
- Lead pre-operational checks, hygiene verification and process verification
- Direct the QA team's technical work day to day, coaching people to raise quality across the site
- Build ownership and a strong food safety culture among all staff
- Suggest and make improvements to quality systems, processes and controls
- Partner with production and management to settle quality and compliance problems
- Back animal welfare requirements and the industry standards that apply
Requirements & Eligibility
- A qualification in Food Science, Food Technology, Agricultural Science, Quality Management or a comparable discipline
- Work history in quality assurance, food safety, compliance or food manufacturing
- Hands-on understanding of HACCP principles and food safety management systems
- Track record supporting or leading quality, customer or regulatory audits
- Skilled at tracing the root cause of non-conformances and putting in effective fixes
- Has managed corrective and preventive actions
- Knows quality documentation, verification and traceability procedures well
- Can keep standards high in a regulated production environment
- Has supervised, coordinated or developed quality personnel before
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Confident communicator who handles stakeholders well and works with production and senior management teams
- Food processing or export industry experience is advantageous
- Experience with meat processing, DAFF compliance or Approved Arrangements is highly regarded
- Relevant international qualifications and professional experience will be considered
- Commitment to Australian workplace, food safety and compliance standards
