A dementia care home in Christchurch, New Zealand, is looking for a Caregiver for a permanent, full-time role, and the most useful first step is to check your qualification against its visa condition.
The home is an Immigration New Zealand Accredited Employer and can sponsor the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) for applicants holding a Registered Nursing degree, or a Level 3 or higher caregiving qualification together with an International Qualification Assessment (IQA). The work covers personal care for residents living with dementia, input into care planning and therapy, careful progress notes and quick reporting of any concern to the registered nurses. Plan for at least 30 hours a week on a roster that runs around the clock. Hourly rates are $23.95 at Level 1, $24.06 at Level 2, $26.16 at Level 3 and $28.25 at Level 4 and above.

Key Responsibilities
- Support residents with showering, dressing, eating, moving and communicating, giving holistic care that is culturally safe
- Add to care planning and follow therapy plans designed for people with dementia
- Note each resident's progress, report any change or care concern quickly and keep records accurate and current
- Work alongside registered nurses and help them within their scope of practice
Requirements & Eligibility
- A sincere commitment to making a positive difference to elderly people
- Ability to work any shift within a 24/7 roster
- Passion for working in aged care
- Earlier caregiving experience is preferred, and dementia care experience is a strong advantage
- For visa support: a Registered Nursing degree, or a caregiving qualification at Level 3 or above supported by an International Qualification Assessment (IQA)
