Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine servicing and maintenance of vehicles and machinery
- Repair breakdowns and respond to callouts as problems come up
- Use machinery and tools safely
- Supervise station staff and train them on daily checks and services
- Keep a record of parts used for reordering and stock commonly needed parts
Requirements & Eligibility
- Holds a trade qualification in Diesel / Heavy Vehicle Mechanics
- Brings at least 2 years' experience on the tools
- Has worked as a mechanic in a comparable position
- Is genuinely keen on station life
- Runs diagnostic and test gear safely on every unit in the company's fleet
- C Class driver's licence (essential)
- Motorcycle licence, HR or MC licence would be an advantage
- Handles tools and equipment confidently, quickly and with care
- Works well solo or alongside others at a remote site
- Comes up with innovative fixes if parts or tools cannot be found nearby
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, good communication and a positive attitude would be an advantage; can cope with high temperatures and high humidity
