A road transport company in regional New South Wales is looking for a Diesel Motor Mechanic to work on its heavy commercial vehicles. The job is permanent and full-time, at the Dubbo workshop or at a second workshop in the Riverina where the roster rotates to Dubbo. If heavy vehicles are your trade, read on.
Most days involve tracking down complex faults, completing repairs and handling preventive maintenance on prime movers, trailers and bulk freight equipment. Key Responsibilities
- Carry out preventive maintenance and logbook servicing on engines, transmissions and brakes to the OEM schedule
- Use advanced diagnostic tools on electrical, mechanical and emission control faults, then repair them
- Rebuild major components and fabricate parts as needed
- Keep up full NHVR compliance with detailed records for audits
- Work to the workshop safety rules and manage work orders in fleet management software
- Give roadside assistance and help train drivers on vehicle checks and defect reporting
- Look after prime movers, trailers and bulk freight equipment
Requirements & Eligibility
- At least 2 years of experience as a heavy diesel mechanic, preferably in road transport
- A qualification in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology
- Experience with NHVR standards and bulk freight equipment is desirable
- Confident with diagnostic software
- Knowledge of petrol and diesel engines
- A current licence and able to pass a medical and a drug and alcohol test
