This is a part-time leadership position in Brisbane. The Human Resources Manager will oversee the main HR functions for an operational workforce of over 160 people, working with site teams and senior leaders alike.
The goal is a workforce that is well staffed, engaged and compliant, and the work runs from recruitment through to investigations. Sound judgement counts for a lot, and the employer expects your HR background to rest on real experience that can be verified.

Key Responsibilities
- Create HR strategies that work in practice and put them into action
- Brief leadership on what the workforce needs, and plan for capability and succession
- Look after recruiting and talent acquisition
- Help employees stay engaged and stay with the business
- Handle performance management and employee relations issues
- Investigate workplace issues and grievances, and coordinate disciplinary steps
- Keep the organisation within employment legislation and awards
- Refresh HR policies, procedures and documentation
- Produce workforce reports and HR metrics
- Assist with periodic reviews of employment terms
- Help manage workplace injuries and return-to-work programs
Requirements & Eligibility
- Proven experience as an HR Manager, or as a senior HR professional
- Relevant tertiary qualification preferred
- Sector background in construction, mining, engineering, infrastructure or comparable operational fields
- Australian employment law knowledge, with a firm grip on modern awards and workplace relations
- Experience of employee relations and workplace investigations
- A strong recruitment and workforce planning background
- Excellent analytical, negotiation and communication skills
- Comfortable working with senior leaders and operational employees
- Experience with HRIS and payroll platforms
- Can work independently in a hands-on environment
- Sponsorship or migration experience highly regarded
