A New Plymouth early learning centre is looking for a registered Early Childhood Teacher with a real passion for infants. Key Responsibilities
- Give responsive, respectful infant care that suits each child, including routines for care, comfort, sleep and wellbeing
- Form secure relationships with tamariki and whanau, and keep communication with whanau professional and regular
- Set up a safe, welcoming and stimulating space and plan learning experiences that encourage exploration and development
- Observe each child's interests, behaviours and progress, then use what you see to plan intentional teaching
- Keep accurate learning stories, assessments, records and documentation
- Teach in a culturally responsive way that affirms the identities, languages, cultures and backgrounds of all tamariki
- Strengthen bicultural practice in line with Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Work with colleagues and join team discussions, meetings and centre activities, reflecting on your practice, taking part in professional learning and supporting a positive, collaborative team
Requirements & Eligibility
- Recognised Early Childhood Education qualification
- Full and current New Zealand Teacher Practising Certificate
- Relevant early childhood experience, especially with infants
- Good grasp of infant learning, development and responsive caregiving, and a real passion for babies and young children
- Proven ability to form positive relationships with tamariki and whanau
- Strong verbal and written communication
- Confident with planning, assessment, observation and documentation
- Culturally responsive teaching practice, and commitment to bicultural practice and Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Professional, organised, calm, adaptable and reflective
- Works well in an education team
- Willing to undertake ongoing professional development
- Applicants must satisfy relevant New Zealand employment, registration, and immigration requirements
