A family in Geraldton is looking for a Disability Support Worker who brings patience, consistency and a person-centred approach. You would support a young participant with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), helping with daily living skills, communication, confidence and independence.

Shifts are flexible and cover daytime and after-school hours. Sponsorship is available for eligible international applicants who can demonstrate relevant experience, strong communication skills and a genuine commitment to disability support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide dependable one-to-one support built around the participant's routines and individual needs
  • Encourage independence through daily activities and skill-building
  • Help with communication challenges and with sensory or behavioural needs
  • Use positive support methods and suitable redirection when it is called for
  • Study and carry out Behaviour Support Plans and care instructions, and notice shifts in behaviour so you can respond calmly and professionally
  • Encourage participation in meaningful activities that lift confidence and engagement
  • Keep families, carers and the wider support network informed through clear communication
  • Write accurate shift notes, reports and any required paperwork
  • Build a consistent, respectful and trusting bond with the participant

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience in disability support or a similar care environment
  • Demonstrated experience supporting individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Background with participants who need communication support and behaviour management
  • Able to put established support strategies and care plans into practice confidently
  • Strong English skills, communicating clearly in professional settings
  • Dependable approach and commitment to consistent participant support, with a patient, understanding and compassionate attitude to disability care
  • Able to work independently while adding to a support team
  • Relevant qualifications or practical disability support experience preferred
