There are 12 full-time places for Childcare Workers with a Queensland early learning provider in Cairns. Key Responsibilities

  • Give attentive care, guidance and supervision to children aged 0–6 years
  • Make the room safe, caring and stimulating so each child feels valued and supported
  • Encourage curiosity, confidence, independence and social development
  • Help plan and deliver engaging learning experiences suited to each age group, following the Early Years Learning Framework
  • Observe children's progress and add to learning documentation, portfolios, electronic programming and developmental records
  • Build genuine, respectful relationships with children and their families, and keep parents, guardians and colleagues regularly informed
  • Work alongside other educators so care stays consistent and of high quality
  • Offer ideas and activities that draw children into learning, and respond to individual needs, interests and goals
  • Keep the centre positive and inclusive
  • Follow workplace policies, child safety procedures and regulatory requirements, in line with the National Quality Framework and National Quality Standards
  • Join training, professional development and team activities

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Studying towards, or already holding, a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care; Diploma-qualified applicants are also encouraged to apply
  • Real passion for caring for and educating young children, and a wish to build a long-term career in the Australian early childhood sector
  • A warm, patient and positive way with children
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and able to build trusting relationships with children, families and colleagues
  • Reliable, responsible and professional
  • Strong at teamwork and collaboration
  • Enthusiastic, energetic and keen to learn
  • Flexible and open-minded with children and fellow educators
  • Understanding of the EYLF, NQF, National Regulations and National Quality Standards
  • Comfortable with computers and electronic documentation systems
  • Current Queensland Blue Card, or able to obtain one
  • First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis training, or willing to get the required certifications
  • Overseas candidates must satisfy applicable qualification and ACECQA assessment requirements
  • English language proficiency suitable for the relevant visa pathway
  • Able to satisfy applicable Australian visa and sponsorship conditions
