Key Responsibilities
- Be the Head Chef's right hand in running the kitchen from one day to the next
- When service gets busy, you carry responsibility for how the kitchen performs and line up preparation so the pass moves smoothly
- Coach and direct cooks at every level, from juniors to seniors
- Cook dishes that arrive at the same high standard every time, with recipes, portions and plating done right
- Take part in supplier ordering, keep an eye on stock levels, hold food costs down and cut waste
- Hold the line on food safety, hygiene and a clean kitchen
- Bring menu and seasonal ideas, and keep modern classics, premium proteins, seafood and pub-style dishes consistent
- Work hand in hand with management and the front-of-house team so the kitchen stays respectful and productive
Requirements & Eligibility
- Experience as a Sous Chef or experienced senior chef, which you can demonstrate
- A solid background in a high-volume pub, bistro, restaurant, or comparable kitchen
- Proven ability in hands-on cooking and food preparation
- A demonstrated ability to lead a kitchen team through busy services
- Strong grasp of food quality, presentation, and consistency
- Hands-on experience with stock control, ordering, food costing, and wastage management
- Good working knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
- Performs efficiently under pressure
- Strong team leadership and communication skills, and a reliable, professional approach to kitchen responsibilities
- Able to demonstrate and verify genuine culinary employment experience; documented and verifiable chef experience is encouraged
