Service Technician

Visa sponsorship

Trade · Adelaide, SA, Australia · Full-Time · $53 - $58/hr · Visa: Employer sponsored

This is a field-service role for industrial electricians in Adelaide who want to specialise in overhead cranes, hoists, gantries and industrial lifting systems. You would travel between industrial sites diagnosing faults, doing preventative maintenance, commissioning equipment and responding to breakdowns.

Suitable candidates with verified qualifications and relevant experience may be considered for sponsorship. Willingness to learn crane and lifting technology is part of the brief, so the focus is on strong electrical fundamentals and a practical, independent approach to problems on site.

Put your electrical licence and Cert III in Electrotechnology at the top of your English CV, then add the PLC fault-finding and motor control work you have done. Then polish an Adelaide service technician CV with Build AI CV.

Key Responsibilities

  • Track down electrical faults on overhead cranes, hoists and industrial lifting equipment, drawing on your diagnostic skills for the trickier problems
  • Attend breakdowns and emergency call-outs and get the equipment repaired
  • Run scheduled preventative maintenance and electrical inspections
  • Test, commission and troubleshoot crane control systems
  • Work on PLCs, motors, contactors, VSDs, limit switches and the controls around them
  • Service equipment to the standards required and keep accurate service reports and maintenance records
  • Drive out to customer sites in the metro area and the regions, with the occasional interstate trip when required
  • Share in the rotating on-call roster

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Cert III in Electrotechnology, or an equivalent qualification
  • Current Electrical Licence or Provisional Electrical Licence
  • Industrial electrical experience that you can prove
  • PLC fault-finding experience, hands-on
  • Able to diagnose electrical faults without supervision, with practical experience of industrial motors and control systems
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
  • Comfortable working independently while managing professional customer relationships
  • Willing to learn overhead crane and lifting equipment technology
  • Willing to travel approximately 10–30% outside metropolitan areas
