Birds, people and equipment all need attention at once on a commercial broiler farm, and this Tamworth role is for a manager who can keep all three on track. You would take charge of every stage of production, direct the farm crew and team up with operational and technical specialists to meet targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full broiler production cycle from placement to collection, and prepare rosters for the farm team
  • Lead the team day to day and allocate responsibilities to meet production requirements
  • Monitor bird health, welfare, growth and flock performance, and take corrective action when results slip
  • Manage feeding, watering, ventilation and environmental conditions
  • Keep biosecurity procedures effective, and follow animal welfare and workplace health and safety standards
  • Coordinate shed preparation, cleaning and turnaround
  • Oversee maintenance of feeding, drinking, ventilation and generator systems, and arrange repairs when issues appear
  • Keep farm, production and compliance records, using farm management systems and production data to track performance
  • Work with veterinarians, technical specialists and processor representatives, and update senior management with clear performance reports
  • Join the after-hours and on-call roster, and support continuous improvement

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Hands-on commercial broiler poultry background
  • Worked previously as a Poultry Farm Manager or an experienced 2IC
  • Able to supervise and lead a farm team
  • Solid practical understanding of poultry production and flock management
  • Knowledge of ventilation and climate-control systems
  • Understands poultry biosecurity and welfare requirements
  • Can read production data and make practical operating decisions
  • Good communication, organisation and record-keeping, with confident use of computers and farm management systems
  • A calm, reliable approach when operational challenges arise
  • Current driver's licence
  • Willing to live on site and to join an after-hours and on-call roster
  • Genuine commitment to animal welfare, workplace safety and production standards
