Key Responsibilities
- Inspect damaged vehicles, read the job sheet and check that incoming parts are correct, suitable and free of defects
- Remove damaged panels, frames and components, then repair, replace and refit panels and structural parts
- Shape, cut, straighten and weld metal, and carry out fabrication and repair work with the right workshop tools
- Help with rust treatment, frame alignment and structural repairs when needed
- Apply body filler, then sand and prepare surfaces for the next stage
- Strip vehicles down to the repair instructions and put them back together carefully afterwards
- Make sure finished work meets the quality and industry standards expected
- Treat customer and company vehicles with care
- Keep tools and equipment in safe, clean working order and the work area tidy, following all health and safety rules including PPE
- Work with the team to keep the workshop running smoothly and keep learning current repair methods
Requirements & Eligibility
- A recognised Panel Beater trade qualification, or equivalent industry experience
- Proven background in automotive panel beating and smash repairs
- Able to demonstrate and verify your work experience and professional identity
- Solid knowledge of vehicle body repair and panel replacement methods
- Hands-on skill in metal shaping, cutting, welding and fabrication
- Understanding of structural repair, frame alignment and rust treatment
- Experience applying body filler, sanding and preparing surfaces
- Able to disassemble and reassemble vehicle components accurately
- Close attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality workmanship
- Safe, responsible use of tools and workshop equipment
- Good communication and teamwork, with a reliable, motivated and professional approach
- Committed to workplace safety and OH&S requirements, and willing to take part in the employer's candidate verification and assessment process
