A vehicle repair workshop in Dunedin, New Zealand, is recruiting an experienced Panel Beater / Repair Technician. Expect varied work, from everyday collision repairs to structural and prestige vehicles, handled with care, accuracy and a professional attitude. Quality checks and parts handling are part of the daily routine, so careful, organised technicians suit this workshop well.

This role is open to applicants already in New Zealand with residency or a valid work visa. Sponsorship is available for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Repair collision damage and panels accurately, following approved procedures and workplace instructions
  • Size up each repair before you begin and study the job sheet for the process
  • Check with management whenever you need extra repair guidance
  • Test-fit replacement parts, and flag any that are missing, wrong or additional
  • Complete every assigned repair before the car moves on to paint
  • Tag removed parts with the job number and store them neatly
  • Get repaired panels and parts ready for the Paint Department
  • Reassemble the vehicle and run final checks, including headlight position and other adjustments
  • Check finished repairs for quality and safety, and sign them off after the quality checks
  • Keep work flowing efficiently to the expected repair standard

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Hold a Trade Certificate at an equivalent Level 3 or Level 4 standard, or have at least 3 years of relevant technician experience
  • Practical experience in panel beating or vehicle repair
  • Read job sheets and follow repair procedures with confidence
  • Get technical work done without constant supervision
  • Care about repair quality, safety and accuracy, and pay close attention to detail
  • Team player with good communication and organisation
  • Hold a full clean driving licence
  • Hold current New Zealand residency or a valid applicable work visa
  • Keen on ongoing technical training and professional development
