Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily technical operation at each of the sites
- Line up people and resources for the inspection and compliance programmes on the calendar
- Give a spread-out technical team clear direction and steady leadership
- Make technical quality, safety and service the same from site to site
- Keep watch on how fully the team is used, what jobs earn and how much work is in progress
- Judge what each inspector can do and give every assignment to someone with the right experience
- Hold firm control over authorised work scopes and accreditation conditions
- Champion a strong health and safety culture across field operations
- Take personal ownership of complex or escalated client matters
- Go on site and supervise technically when extra expertise or capacity is called for
- Team up with technical services, compliance and finance, and map out the capability and resourcing needed later
- Keep operational processes improving, growing the business sustainably without lowering technical standards
Requirements & Eligibility
- A record of managing or leading technical or field-based teams
- Hands-on technical or trade grounding, plus a relevant trade, technical or tertiary qualification
- Can plan and prioritise work when the pressure is on
- Business sense around utilisation, job costing, margins and work in progress
- Comfortable guiding seasoned professionals while keeping standards clear
- Sound grasp of technical scope, authorisation and compliance
- Working under ISO/IEC 17020 or ISO/IEC 17025 is advantageous
- A background in electricity distribution or a related technical industry is advantageous
- Good at making decisions, communicating and solving problems
- Has handled client relationships and escalated issues
- Full driver's licence, and willing to travel between sites when required
- Must meet applicable New Zealand employment and visa requirements
