A well-established automotive business in Alice Springs is looking for a qualified Light Vehicle Mechanic. You would handle servicing, fault diagnosis, maintenance and mechanical repairs, find problems quickly, fix them efficiently and keep safety, workmanship and customer service at a high level.

Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose vehicle faults and confirm the cause through testing and inspection
- Repair engines, transmissions, steering and braking systems
- Do wheel alignment, plus air-conditioning-related repairs and servicing
- Carry out routine servicing and preventative maintenance to service specifications
- Inspect, diagnose and repair accident-damaged or restoration vehicles
- Check that vehicles are roadworthy, safe and compliant with state regulations
- Examine mechanical and electronic components and spot worn or defective parts
- Keep detailed records of inspections, servicing, repairs and maintenance
- Work with the vehicle operations team so vehicles stay available for customer bookings
- Work out which spare parts are needed and help keep workshop inventory in order
- Explain technical findings, repair needs and estimated costs to management
- Keep the workshop clean, organised and safe in line with WorkSafe requirements
- Deliver reliable, quality work with close attention to detail, on your own or with the wider team
Requirements & Eligibility
- Recognised trade qualification in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience as a Motor Mechanic
- Proven hands-on experience in vehicle diagnosis, servicing and repairs
- Can inspect and diagnose mechanical and electronic vehicle systems
- Current driver's licence
- Strong spoken and written English
- IELTS Band 6 or above preferred
- Can explain technical problems, repair options and estimated costs clearly
- Strong analytical, diagnostic, problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Good organisation and time management
- High level of attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Works well both independently and within a team
- Committed to workplace safety and vehicle roadworthiness
