Mining Engineer

Engineering · Brisbane, QLD, Australia · Full-Time · Discussed at interview · Visa: Employer sponsored
A long-established underground mine in Queensland is hiring a Senior Mining Engineer to sit in its short-term planning function. In practice that means taking the mine's longer-range strategy and turning it into schedules and designs that supervisors and crews can deliver safely, shift after shift.
Your week would cover mine design, drilling and blasting layouts, production planning and the day-to-day hurdles of working underground, with a steady stream of coaching for the younger engineers around you. Visa sponsorship is available for suitably qualified candidates, so the role is worth a look for Malaysians with hard-rock underground experience.
Show your technical depth on your English CV: the underground mines you have planned for, the design packages you use and the stope and drill and blast work you have signed off. You can get your underground mining engineer CV ready on Build AI CV before you apply.

- Sharpen mine sequencing so operational results improve
- Draw up and refine drill and blast designs
- Test stope designs against what short-term production needs

- Line up development, stoping, services, ventilation and backfill so they work together
- Make sure the operation is ready to start planned work and see it executed well
- Produce accurate, practical designs in mine planning software
- Keep lifting the standard of planning and design across the mine
