Key Responsibilities
- Take the lead on, or contribute to, mechanical design for building and infrastructure projects
- Produce detailed designs with calculations, specifications, reports and supporting documents
- See engineering assignments through each stage, from design and coordination to delivery
- Handle projects in commercial, residential, healthcare, industrial and other developments
- Weigh up engineering requirements and develop practical technical solutions
- Align mechanical services with the architectural, structural, electrical and other disciplines on a job
- Talk directly with clients and stakeholders to pin down what they need
- Check technical work for accuracy, quality, safety and compliance
- Join project meetings, design reviews, site inspections and coordination sessions
- Keep an eye on deliverables, deadlines and technical requirements
- Offer technical advice and hands-on engineering support to project teams
- Grow lasting relationships with clients and professional stakeholders, and help spot new project work
- Pass on technical knowledge, help colleagues develop, and keep up with current engineering practice
Requirements & Eligibility
- Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent recognised qualification
- Substantial professional experience in mechanical building services, industrial engineering, or engineering consultancy
- Has delivered projects from design through to completion
- Strong grounding in mechanical engineering principles and design practices
- Proven technical, analytical, and problem-solving ability
- Has managed projects that differ in scope, complexity, and delivery requirements
- Communicates well with clients and project stakeholders, and builds and maintains professional relationships
- Juggles competing priorities and meets agreed deadlines
- Strongly committed to engineering quality, safety, compliance, and practical outcomes
- Comfortable in a collaborative professional team
- Commercial awareness and interest in developing client and business opportunities
- Chartered Professional Engineer status, or active progress towards chartership, is advantageous
- Willing to undergo verification of qualifications, employment history, professional experience, and relevant credentials
