An established FMCG manufacturing operation in Perth, Western Australia is looking for a qualified Maintenance Fitter. This is a hands-on mechanical role for someone who prefers preventing breakdowns to chasing them, with fault-finding, repairs, inspections and improvement work all part of the week.

Sponsorship is available for suitably qualified candidates who meet employer and visa requirements, and applicants who already hold an Australian visa are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out preventative maintenance on production machinery and fixed plant
  • React quickly to mechanical breakdowns and equipment failures
  • Diagnose faults and decide on the right repair
  • Inspect machinery and catch developing problems early
  • Maintain conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, motors, bearings and pneumatic equipment
  • Repair mechanical faults in ways that limit production downtime
  • Complete scheduled servicing and inspections
  • Help with changeovers, modifications and equipment upgrades or improvement projects
  • Look into repeat faults and recommend corrective action
  • Keep maintenance and service records accurate
  • Work with production staff to keep the plant reliable
  • Apply health and safety requirements, and follow food manufacturing, hygiene and site procedures

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade, Mechanical Fitting or equivalent qualification
  • Experience as a qualified Maintenance Fitter
  • Background in FMCG, food manufacturing or high-volume production
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and troubleshooting
  • Experience maintaining automated production equipment and fixed plant
  • Practical understanding of preventative maintenance strategies
  • Hands-on work with conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, motors, bearings and pneumatic systems
  • Confident in both planned and breakdown maintenance
  • Strong focus on machinery reliability, safety and production efficiency
  • Can work independently and add value to a maintenance team; good communication and practical problem-solving
  • Willing to work rotating day and afternoon shifts
  • Genuine, verifiable trade qualifications and employment experience; applicants currently holding an Australian visa are encouraged to apply
