A growing Melbourne team is hiring a Japanese Chef for an evening-focused kitchen. The employer wants real experience in commercial Japanese cuisine, a dependable and positive attitude, and someone who fits in well with colleagues.
This role is open to applicants already in Australia, and sponsorship is available for the right onshore candidate if a suitable full-time position becomes available.

Key Responsibilities
- Cook Japanese dishes to the kitchen's recipes, methods and standards
- Do mise en place and prep before service, and keep evening prep running efficiently
- Hold food quality, plating and portion control steady
- Back up the team through busy periods and keep up hygiene, cleanliness and correct ingredient handling
- Help with stock prep and general kitchen organisation
- Communicate well with chefs and teammates, and take instructions, feedback and training positively
- Contribute to a respectful, cooperative kitchen and stay dependable across your scheduled shifts
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 2 years of relevant Japanese cuisine or professional kitchen experience
- Commercial kitchen background with practical cooking skills
- Real understanding of Japanese food preparation and kitchen operations
- Comfortable in fast-paced service, calm and organised under pressure
- Good attendance, dependability and personal accountability
- Professional attitude and sound workplace discipline
- Respectful communicator and strong team player
- Positive about learning and development, willing to take training and adapt to workplace requirements
- Committed to a stable, long-term career in hospitality
- Valid Australian work rights required
