Heavy Vehicle Technician

Auckland's truck dealership network is looking for an experienced Diesel Mechanic to step into a Heavy Vehicle Technician role. You would handle routine servicing, mechanical and electrical repairs and fault finding on trucks and commercial vehicles, alongside a professional crew.

Key Responsibilities

  • Service, repair and look after heavy trucks and other commercial vehicles
  • Do advanced fault finding with modern diagnostic equipment and technology
  • Finish mechanical and electrical repairs to manufacturer and industry standards
  • Inspect and test vehicles to pin down problems quickly and accurately
  • Produce quality work and make sure every repair leaves the vehicle safe
  • Team up with technicians, service advisors and the parts department, and speak professionally with customers
  • Keep service records and workshop paperwork accurate
  • Stay across new vehicle technology through ongoing training
  • Follow health and safety procedures on every job, help the workshop run efficiently and meet service targets

Requirements & Eligibility

  • An automotive qualification that fits the role, preferably as a qualified Diesel Mechanic
  • Proven experience repairing heavy vehicles or trucks mechanically
  • Experience at franchise truck dealerships is preferred but not essential
  • Sound knowledge of how mechanical and electrical systems work
  • Able to diagnose and fix complex vehicle faults
  • Takes pride in quality workmanship, accuracy and efficiency
  • A genuine passion for the truck and heavy vehicle industry, with the ability to work independently and as part of a professional team
  • Truck licence or forklift licence is advantageous
