A new Sydney venue is looking for a Head Chef to set up its kitchen from scratch. You would hire and develop the team, shape the food concept, put the operating standards in place and lead service from opening day, so a history of managing people, controlling costs and delivering consistent food at scale counts for a lot.

Key Responsibilities
- Run the whole kitchen and lead it through venue opening and ongoing service
- Hire a team of more than 20 kitchen staff, then train, supervise and develop them
- Keep high-volume service moving while holding food quality and plating standards
- Design menus that are commercially viable, and keep food, labour and purchasing costs under control
- Manage stock levels and cut wastage
- Build working relationships with local suppliers
- Put effective kitchen systems in place, and make sure HACCP, food safety and WHS requirements are followed
- Work closely with venue leadership, tracking service performance and improving the kitchen over time
Requirements & Eligibility
- Background as a Head Chef or in a senior chef role
- 2–3 years’ experience leading a large-scale or high-volume kitchen
- Proven ability to manage 20+ kitchen employees
- Relevant commercial cookery qualifications
- Demonstrated menu planning and food-costing experience, backed by strong commercial and financial understanding
- Proven staff leadership and development skills, with excellent communication and decision-making ability
- Strong knowledge of HACCP and food safety requirements
- Ability to provide verifiable professional experience
- Commitment to professional hospitality standards
