Running the kitchen of a respected care community in Melbourne is as much about comfort as it is about cooking. As Head Chef you would plan seasonal menus with real creative freedom, lead a dedicated team and put meals in front of residents that make their day better. This is a permanent full-time role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the kitchen team with confidence and positivity
  • Cook nutritious, well-balanced meals that residents enjoy and present them to a consistently high standard
  • Plan menus around seasonal ingredients and resident preferences, covering individual dietary and nutritional needs
  • Create pleasant dining experiences for residents
  • Keep food safety and kitchen hygiene excellent, and make sure kitchen practices meet compliance requirements
  • Manage ordering and supplier requirements, and monitor stock to cut waste
  • Keep a handle on kitchen expenditure and budgets
  • Train, guide and support the kitchen team in a safe, collaborative environment

Requirements & Eligibility

  • A recognised qualification in Commercial Cookery, with Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent preferred
  • Time spent as a Head Chef or in senior culinary leadership
  • Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
  • Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
  • Experience developing menus and managing dietary requirements
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills
  • Strong communication and planning abilities
  • Experience managing kitchen costs and stock
  • A passion for exceptional food and service, and a caring, respectful approach with residents
  • Ability to complete a medical assessment and background checks
