Key Responsibilities

  • Steer the kitchen's daily activity and keep the flow efficient in a busy, casual dining room
  • Coach, train and back up the kitchen crew through prep and service
  • Keep food quality, consistency and presentation at a high level, and watch portion control and production standards
  • Cook and oversee dishes using a variety of cooking techniques
  • Take charge of food prep, stock levels, storage and ordering
  • See that the kitchen satisfies all food safety, hygiene and HACCP requirements
  • Keep the kitchen clean, organised and professional
  • Bring ideas for the menu and new dishes
  • Grow a positive, accountable, high-performing kitchen culture
  • Cover a flexible roster of evenings, weekends and public holidays

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Certificate III or Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery, or an equivalent recognised qualification
  • At least 3–5 years of relevant commercial kitchen experience
  • Previous experience as a Head Chef or senior Sous Chef for approximately 1–2 years
  • Shown ability to lead and coordinate a professional kitchen team
  • Solid grasp of modern cooking methods and a range of culinary styles
  • A track record of consistent results in a busy service environment
  • Leadership, communication and organisational skills at a good level
  • Understands food safety legislation and HACCP procedures well
  • Looks professional and holds a high standard of conduct
  • Open to a seven-day roster, flexibly
  • Can supply a current CV and contactable professional referees, plus reliable supporting information on identity, qualifications and relevant employment history
