A growing flooring installation team in Mackay, Queensland, is hiring two experienced Floor Layers for a steady mix of residential, commercial, retail and new-build projects. Carpet and vinyl installation sit at the centre of the work.
Your experience needs to be clear from your earlier jobs. Suitably skilled overseas applicants with verifiable relevant experience may be eligible for visa sponsorship, so Malaysian flooring professionals are welcome to apply.

Key Responsibilities
- Survey each work area, measure accurately and read the plans to see which flooring materials are needed
- Strip existing floor coverings and get subfloors ready properly
- Lay broadloom carpet with underlay and gripper, including seaming and stretching
- Install carpet tiles on residential and commercial jobs
- Put down luxury vinyl plank
- Cut and fit materials precisely, and finish with trims, thresholds and edge finishes
- Carry out repairs and rectification work as needed
- Keep workmanship high on every job
- Keep your vehicle, tools and work area organised and safe, observing Australian workplace safety and flooring installation requirements
- Get on well with customers, builders and other trades
Requirements & Eligibility
- You need a minimum of 3 years' experience as a Floor Layer
- You have hands-on experience installing broadloom carpet and/or vinyl plank
- You understand subfloor preparation well
- You can take accurate measurements and work from plans
- You have a record of completing flooring installations to a professional standard
- You hold a current driver's licence and a current construction White Card before you start
- You communicate well and are comfortable dealing with customers
- You are reliable and physically able to do flooring work
- You can work on your own and as part of an installation team
- Commercial sheet vinyl experience, covering welding, coving and wall vinyl, is highly regarded
- Advanced floor preparation, floating floor and engineered timber installation experience are all highly regarded
