Industrial sites in Perth depend on fitters who can keep critical machinery running, and this permanent Fitter role suits qualified tradespeople with a strong record in heavy industry, workshops or site-based maintenance. You would split your time between the workshop and client sites across Western Australia, working on fixed plant, mobile equipment, and hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
The work covers overhauls, fault diagnosis, planned maintenance and improvement projects, all done with a safety-first, Zero Harm mindset. International applicants with suitable qualifications and verified experience may be considered for 482 or 494 visa sponsorship or visa transfer.

Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, repair and overhaul industrial machinery and mechanical equipment, in the workshop and on client sites
- Carry out mechanical fitting and assembly on fixed plant, mobile equipment and the mechanical systems that go with them
- Work from mechanical drawings, specifications and technical documents
- Judge what each job needs and pick suitable materials, tools and methods
- Inspect components for wear, damage and defects, and measure them to check dimensions, tolerances, alignment and fit
- Cut, grind, press and form metal components to prepare or modify them
- Install and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic pipework and fluid power systems, including pipe threading, bending and cutting
- Diagnose mechanical faults and track down equipment problems
- Handle planned preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs
- Take part in machinery refurbishments, rebuilds and equipment improvement programs
- Contribute to sustainable capital works and mechanical upgrades
- Write up maintenance findings and share technical information with the right people
- Work to established safe procedures and Zero Harm principles
- Coordinate with supervisors, tradespeople and site personnel to get work done efficiently
- Keep workmanship at a professional standard on every assigned project
Requirements & Eligibility
- A recognised Fitting and Turning trade qualification, or an equivalent mechanical trade qualification
- Minimum 5 years of relevant mechanical fitting experience
- A background in heavy industry, industrial workshops, manufacturing or site-based maintenance
- Hands-on experience maintaining and repairing mechanical equipment that you can demonstrate
- Experience with fixed plant, mobile equipment, hydraulic or pneumatic systems
- Able to interpret mechanical drawings and technical specifications
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and fault-finding skills
- Able to use precision measuring instruments and mechanical tools
- An employment history relevant to the position that can be demonstrated and verified, together with evidence of your qualifications and practical trade experience
- A strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements and a commitment to a safety-focused, Zero Harm working environment
- Able to work independently as well as within a professional team
- Previous leadership, mentoring or supervisory experience is advantageous
- A current driver's licence
- Able to complete a pre-employment medical and meet fitness-for-work requirements
- Willing to work in both workshop and client-site environments in Western Australia
