Darwin has an opening for a Duty Manager at a busy licensed venue. You would be the senior person on each of your shifts, steering frontline teams that cover functions, gaming and food and beverage, and keeping the whole floor safe, efficient and professional from open to close.

The job balances people leadership with customer service, compliance, financial controls and quick operational decisions, so a calm head and organised habits matter. Key Responsibilities

  • Be accountable for how the venue runs during your rostered shifts
  • Lead and supervise staff across functions, gaming and food and beverage, giving direction and support
  • Hand out daily tasks, keep rosters covered and help with performance management, training and development
  • Keep service and venue presentation at a high level
  • Comply with workplace safety, food safety, responsible gambling, gaming and liquor rules
  • Open and close the venue by procedure and look after keys, security and areas with restricted access
  • Monitor cash handling and gaming transactions, covering tills, floats and safe balances, then close each shift with reconciliations and exact handovers of the money
  • Settle customer complaints and deal with behaviour, security and incident situations sensibly
  • Back functions, entertainment and promotional events
  • Check stock, equipment, cleanliness and maintenance needs
  • Write shift, incident and operational reports accurately
  • Apply workplace policies and look for ways to lift how the venue performs
  • Keep the workplace safe, professional and positive

Requirements & Eligibility

  • An AQF Diploma-level qualification or equivalent that is relevant, combined with at least one year of full-time-equivalent experience in the field
  • Or at least three years of full-time-equivalent experience in the field, in hospitality, hotel or licensed-club management
  • Proven record of leading and supervising hospitality employees, with earlier work in a licensed venue environment
  • Working knowledge of gaming and licensed hospitality operations
  • Solid background in handling cash and reconciling it
  • Sound grasp of venue security and operational controls
  • Leadership and team-management strengths, with excellent customer-service and conflict-resolution skills
  • Clear written communication and reporting
  • NT Responsible Service of Alcohol certification that is current
  • Responsible Service of Gambling training that is current, or readiness to complete it as required
  • NT Gaming Machine Manager licence is preferred, otherwise ready and eligible to apply for it
  • Available to cover evenings, weekends and public holidays
  • Able to meet the licensing, probity and employment requirements that apply
