Adelaide has steady infrastructure work, and this job is for a Directional Driller or Directional Drill Tracker who can point to real horizontal directional drilling projects. You would be on power, communications, water, sewer and gas jobs, making safe calls on site and keeping workmanship consistent from one project to the next.

Experience in service locating is also welcome. Sponsorship available for suitably qualified and experienced candidates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run and track horizontal directional drilling equipment on infrastructure and utility projects
  • Read project requirements and drill to the approved procedures
  • Watch drilling progress and keep site operations efficient
  • Support service locating and underground utility identification when needed
  • Work across power, communications, water, sewer and gas projects
  • Keep strict safety and quality standards on every job
  • Follow workplace procedures, project systems and compliance requirements, and keep accurate operational and project records
  • Inspect and look after drilling equipment, and report problems promptly
  • Work well with drilling crews, supervisors and other site personnel, with clear communication on site
  • Spot operational or safety risks early and respond properly
  • Hold the same standard of workmanship from project to project
  • Help keep the site organised and focused on safety

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Demonstrated professional experience in directional drilling or drill tracking
  • Strong hands-on experience with horizontal directional drilling operations
  • Able to provide evidence of previous HDD employment and experience
  • Relevant industry qualifications, licences or accreditations
  • Service locating experience is advantageous
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace health and safety
  • A reliable and consistent employment background
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a professional site team
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Strong work ethic and dependable attitude
  • Able to follow structured systems, procedures and documentation requirements, with a professional approach to quality, safety and compliance
  • Able to adapt to different project requirements and working environments
