A hospitality business in Wagga Wagga, NSW wants a Qualified Chef for its kitchen. Menus run from à la carte dining to weddings, corporate functions and other events, so the best fit is a cook who has moved up from prep and service to running a section.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take full charge of your section, from prep to the last plate out
  • Cook for the à la carte menu and for event services
  • Finish mise en place in line with the day's production needs
  • Keep quality, presentation and portions consistent
  • Play a part in wedding, corporate and private function service
  • Adapt to changing service volumes and kitchen demands
  • Follow recipes, prep standards and established kitchen procedures
  • Meet food safety, hygiene and cleanliness rules and keep your station clean, organised and ready for service
  • Check stock levels and rotate stock
  • Label, store and handle ingredients properly, and cut food waste through careful prep
  • Communicate clearly with chefs and kitchen colleagues, and help service run smoothly when it gets busy
  • Support junior team members and share practical knowledge when asked
  • Take on extra kitchen duties that suit your experience

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent recognised qualification
  • Relevant commercial kitchen experience at Demi Chef, Chef de Partie or Sous Chef level
  • Progression in responsibility within professional kitchens that you can demonstrate
  • Able to independently manage a designated section
  • À la carte cooking and service experience, as well as function and event food preparation
  • Able to keep standards consistent under high-pressure service
  • Sound knowledge of commercial food safety and hygiene practices
  • Strong skills in communication and teamwork
  • Professional work habits and reliable attendance
  • A strong work ethic and willingness to contribute within a team
  • Availability to work weekends as required
  • Current driver's licence
  • Verifiable qualifications and employment history, along with appropriate evidence of previous culinary experience
