A well-established Italian hospitality group in Sydney is recruiting Chefs for a professional kitchen. You will cook with quality Australian produce, learn alongside experienced kitchen leaders and use contemporary Italian techniques.

The group wants cooks who can verify their culinary background through genuine employment history, qualifications and demonstrated kitchen capability. Suitable candidates may be considered for employer sponsorship, and a long-term career in cooking is the kind of ambition they are looking for.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of preparing and executing dishes in your allocated section
  • Cook Italian dishes with professional technique, using seafood, premium meats, fresh pasta and seasonal produce
  • Deliver food to the kitchen's standards of quality and presentation, keeping portions accurate
  • Complete mise en place and preparation efficiently
  • Support senior chefs with menu development, tastings and seasonal changes
  • Watch food quality from preparation through service, staying efficient when the kitchen is busy
  • Coach junior chefs and share what you know
  • Follow food safety and hygiene practices and keep the kitchen clean
  • Communicate with the brigade during service, help build a respectful, organised workplace and keep developing your technical skills and culinary knowledge

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Relevant qualification in commercial cookery or hospitality, preferably Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
  • Approximately 1–3 years of genuine commercial kitchen experience
  • Hands-on experience preparing Italian cuisine
  • Previous employment and qualifications that can be demonstrated and supported with evidence
  • Strong English communication skills
  • Good understanding of professional kitchen procedures
  • Ability to manage responsibilities within an allocated kitchen section
  • Strong organisation, time management and attention to detail, working effectively under pressure
  • Professional, reliable and a strong team communicator
  • Genuine interest in developing a long-term culinary career
  • Highly regarded: a fine dining or hatted restaurant background, fresh pasta skills, seafood preparation and cooking, and work with premium meats and seasonal produce
