Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook dishes to set quality standards
- Send out consistent à la carte food through busy periods
- Organise food preparation and kitchen tasks efficiently
- Maintain presentation and portion control
- Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace health requirements
- Cover different kitchen sections and take the initiative to keep operations moving when needed
- Help train and develop junior chefs and apprentices
- Keep clear communication with the kitchen and front-of-house teams
- Keep the kitchen organised, clean and safe, assist with stock preparation and look for ways to improve efficiency and food quality while adding to a positive team culture
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 3 years of professional kitchen experience
- Previous experience in a Chef or similar culinary position
- Demonstrated experience preparing à la carte cuisine
- Solid practical cooking and food preparation skills
- Understanding of professional food safety and hygiene standards
- Able to work independently in a busy kitchen with reliable, consistent performance
- Good communication and teamwork, a professional attitude and commitment to quality
- Experience supporting or mentoring junior kitchen staff is advantageous
- Willingness to work day, evening and overnight shifts
- English language proficiency, and Australian work rights preferred
