A busy highway food operation in Western Australia is looking for a Chef who wants real responsibility. You will cook hands-on while also improving the menu, coordinating the team and looking after the day-to-day running of the kitchen. You are encouraged to bring your own ideas, as long as the food stays consistent and the quality holds up when it is busy.

Key Responsibilities
- Own the performance of the whole kitchen, and plan daily preparation and operations
- Guide and back up your cooks through service, helping train and develop them
- Turn out quality meals from a varied commercial menu, with well-cooked steaks and other core dishes
- Look over the current menu and suggest improvements, such as fresh dinner, takeaway and dine-in selections and a better breakfast offer
- Hold quality, presentation and portions steady, and prepare ahead for high-volume service
- Keep an eye on inventory, arrange restocking and keep food usage efficient with little wastage
- Run efficient kitchen workflows and watch food safety, hygiene and cleanliness
- Partner with management to improve the overall food operation, maintaining professional standards in every service
Requirements & Eligibility
- Demonstrated professional experience as a Chef, including in a busy commercial or high-volume kitchen
- Strong cooking and food preparation capabilities, and a proven ability to prepare steaks to a high standard
- Experience with menu development or menu improvement
- Able to manage kitchen responsibilities independently
- Strong team coordination and leadership skills
- Performs well in a fast-paced environment
- A strong eye for food quality and consistency
- Good organisational and communication skills
- Can work a rotating roster
- Willing to live on-site as required
- Committed to workplace safety and food hygiene standards
- Relevant culinary qualification and/or strong equivalent industry experience
