Key Responsibilities
- Run daily kitchen operations and service
- Lead, supervise and develop chefs and kitchen staff, and train and mentor juniors
- Hold standards for food quality, presentation and portion control, following recipes and preparation methods consistently
- Coordinate preparation, cooking and service
- Help plan menus, specials and seasonal dishes
- Track food, labour and operating costs
- Manage ordering, inventory and supplier needs, using stock-control habits that cut wastage
- Keep strict food safety, hygiene and cleaning standards
- Watch kitchen workflow and make it more efficient
- Work with venue management and the wider hospitality team
- Keep the kitchen structured, professional and positive
- Lead the team through high-volume and peak periods
- Find operational problems and fix them in practical ways
Requirements & Eligibility
- Experience as a Head Chef, Sous Chef or senior kitchen professional
- Able to lead a commercial kitchen independently
- Strong hands-on cooking and food preparation
- Experience managing kitchen teams and delegating
- Understanding of food costing, labour control, stock management and wastage
- Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene requirements
- Pub, hotel, club or high-volume hospitality experience is advantageous
- Keeps quality and consistency up during busy services
- Strong organisation and time management, with a professional approach to leading and developing staff
- Calm and effective under pressure
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; willing to take an active, hands-on role in the kitchen
- Relevant culinary qualifications and/or substantial industry experience
