A busy commercial kitchen in Kalgoorlie is looking for a Chef who can show real hands-on ability and stay steady when service gets loud. You would work beside the Head Chef, cooking and plating to a set standard, running prep and mise en place, and keeping your stations organised from the first order to the last.

Grill, pizza, pasta and dessert work is part of the mix, and you may be asked to guide other kitchen staff or take charge when the Head Chef is away.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Head Chef in running the kitchen day to day
  • Cook, plate and present food to the established quality standard every time
  • Show practical competence across several kitchen sections, including grill, pizza, pasta and dessert
  • Complete prep and mise en place before service and set up stations so service flows
  • Keep food quality, presentation and portion size consistent from the first order to the last
  • Stay effective during busy, high-volume periods and use time and resources well
  • Keep work areas clean, organised and fully prepared
  • Follow food safety, hygiene and kitchen operating procedures
  • Attend the daily kitchen briefing and pass on operational needs to the team
  • Work well with chefs, kitchen staff and the wider hospitality team
  • Guide kitchen staff when needed and take charge of the kitchen when the Head Chef is absent
  • Keep a professional standard of conduct, presentation and customer service

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Minimum 4 years of professional Chef experience
  • Experience in a comparable commercial kitchen, with proven hands-on ability across several areas of kitchen production
  • Grill, pizza, pasta and dessert experience is highly regarded
  • A recognised culinary qualification from Australia or overseas, or demonstrable equivalent industry experience
  • Solid understanding of commercial food preparation and service
  • Experience in a high-volume restaurant or hospitality setting
  • Able to lead or coordinate kitchen staff when required
  • Strong organisation and time management, plus good written and verbal communication
  • A reliable, professional approach to workplace responsibilities, and able to work independently while contributing positively to a team
  • Firm commitment to food safety, cleanliness and quality standards
  • Current Food Safety certification is advantageous
  • Current Safe Food Handling certification is advantageous
  • Applicants must satisfy the relevant requirements for employer sponsorship and DAMA nomination
