Bistro cooking with a wood-fire grill is the draw at a Melbourne hospitality venue hiring a Chef de Partie. The kitchen is fully equipped and busy, and cooks are invited to bring ideas for weekly specials and seasonal dishes.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of high-quality bistro dishes
- Offer creative ideas for weekly specials and menu items, and help plan and develop menus
- Estimate food and labour needs, and order and monitor supplies
- Hold food quality, consistency and presentation to a high standard, checking dishes through preparation and service
- Work with kitchen and front-of-house colleagues so service runs smoothly
- Guide others on cooking techniques and preparation procedures
- Keep strict food hygiene and safety standards and make sure kitchen practice meets hygiene regulations
- Help train and develop kitchen team members when asked
- Keep the kitchen organised, clean and efficient, and back the team in busy service
- Help with food preservation, freezing and storage as needed
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 1 year of relevant commercial kitchen or Chef experience
- Hands-on experience preparing and cooking food in a professional kitchen
- Strong understanding of food preparation, presentation and quality control
- Knowledge of food safety and commercial kitchen hygiene standards
- Able to work efficiently in a busy hospitality environment
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Reliable, motivated and ready to take responsibility
- Creative approach to food preparation and weekly specials
- Able to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays, with a positive attitude towards teamwork and continuous improvement
