Brisbane has a busy restaurant built around traditional Italian and Roman cooking, handmade pasta and carefully chosen produce, and it is looking for a Qualified Chef to join an experienced kitchen. You would cook to a set standard through scheduled lunch and dinner services, with plenty of room to keep developing your skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cook dishes to established recipes and quality standards, with the same food quality and presentation each service
  • Support the daily lunch and dinner kitchen routine
  • Prepare traditional Italian and Roman-style dishes using classical culinary techniques across the menu
  • Help make fresh handmade pasta and prepare fresh ingredients
  • Finish mise en place efficiently before service starts
  • Hold portion sizes and presentation to standard, and keep checking food quality throughout preparation and service
  • Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace procedures
  • Keep your workstation clean, organised and professional
  • Stay efficient during busy, high-volume services
  • Communicate well with chefs and colleagues
  • Help with stock preparation and general kitchen organisation, and support a positive team culture

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience as a Qualified Chef
  • A relevant culinary qualification or recognised trade certificate
  • Experience in a quality-focused restaurant or hotel
  • Strong practical cooking and food preparation skills, producing dishes to a professional standard
  • An understanding of classical cooking techniques
  • A genuine interest in Italian cuisine and traditional cooking methods
  • Able to perform well in a high-volume kitchen
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Good organisation and time management, and able to multitask while paying attention to detail
  • A reliable, professional approach to work
  • Eager to learn and develop alongside an experienced culinary team
  • Able to work scheduled lunch and dinner services
