A new restaurant in Brisbane is being launched and the kitchen needs an experienced Chef to help it get off the ground. This is a hands-on role for someone who can run service steadily, keep every plate consistent and look after junior cooks while the team settles in.
Sponsorship consideration is available for suitably qualified applicants, so Malaysian chefs with a strong commercial kitchen background can put their hand up.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items to the required recipes and standards, keeping flavour, presentation and portion sizes consistent
- Keep preparation and service running efficiently and coordinate the kitchen during busy trading periods
- Help develop the menu and improve recipes
- Supervise and train junior kitchen employees
- Make sure kitchen practices meet food safety requirements and keep the space clean and safe
- Watch stock use, work out what to order, rotate stock and cut waste
- Support cost control and operational efficiency, and communicate well with kitchen and service colleagues
Requirements & Eligibility
- A relevant cookery qualification is preferred
- At least 3 years of professional Chef experience
- Hands-on experience in a commercial kitchen and a firm understanding of food preparation and cooking procedures
- Knowledge of food safety and workplace health and safety requirements
- Able to manage competing kitchen priorities and keep quality up during high-volume service
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- A reliable and committed approach to work
- Experience with Mexican cuisine is advantageous
- Ability to undertake interstate training when required
