Daytime food done well is the heart of this Café Chef role in Sydney. You would cook café and breakfast dishes with care over flavour, seasoning and plating, own whatever leaves your section, and bring ideas for specials and menu tweaks as the kitchen grows.
Sponsorship is available for an eligible and suitably qualified candidate. The role is open to applicants already based in Australia, with the kitchen asking for people currently in Sydney. Capable team members may progress into senior chef and kitchen leadership roles as the business grows.

Key Responsibilities
- Turn out café and breakfast dishes at a consistently high standard, with care over flavour, seasoning, texture and presentation
- Keep portion sizes, prep and plating identical from plate to plate
- Move steadily through busy breakfast and lunch services with quality ingredients
- Work closely with senior chefs and the rest of the kitchen
- Pitch practical ideas for specials, seasonal dishes and menu improvements
- Help refine kitchen processes and look for ways to lift efficiency, organisation and service performance
- Uphold food safety, hygiene and cleanliness at all times
- Keep an eye on stock, help with inventory and use sound prep and storage habits to cut food waste
- Leave your section clean, organised and ready for service
- Help train and support developing cooks
- Communicate clearly and professionally, own your tasks and raise problems early
- Stay consistent under pressure and take feedback on board as you build your culinary skills
- Add to a respectful, accountable and professional kitchen culture
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 3 years of professional chef experience
- Demonstrated café, breakfast or daytime kitchen experience
- Proven ability to work well in a high-volume service environment
- Strong practical cooking skills and a good sense of flavour balance
- Able to meet food quality and presentation standards consistently
- Genuine interest in quality produce and ingredient-led cooking
- Strong preparation, organisation and time-management abilities, including managing competing priorities during busy services
- A good understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements
- Strong communication and collaborative teamwork skills
- A reliable, accountable approach to professional responsibilities
- Willing to accept feedback and keep improving, and able to contribute ideas beyond standard recipe execution
- Experience in bread, baking or pastry is advantageous
- Available to work weekends as rostered, and public holidays when required
- Able to start early in the morning from approximately 6:00am, with reliable transport for early shifts
