Poultry breeding is a specialised field, and this Goulburn role puts an experienced Breeder Farm Manager in charge of flock performance, farm routines and the team that keeps them running in NSW. Good results here come from disciplined husbandry, careful monitoring, tight biosecurity and steady leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run the breeder farm day to day and answer for its performance
  • Manage flock activities following established production procedures
  • Track bird health, flock performance and production indicators
  • Use proven husbandry methods to keep breeder stock in top condition
  • Uphold strict biosecurity, hygiene and disease prevention, and keep animal welfare standards consistent
  • Lead, supervise and develop farm employees, and roster staff for daily activities
  • Find production problems and put practical corrective actions in place
  • Keep accurate farm records and prepare reports on flock and farm performance
  • Look for ways to improve productivity, efficiency and consistency
  • Work with senior management to reach agreed production objectives and build a culture of accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on poultry production experience
  • Demonstrated experience managing or supervising poultry farm operations
  • Strong practical knowledge of breeder poultry production, husbandry and flock management
  • Knowledge of animal health, disease prevention and biosecurity
  • Understanding of animal welfare standards and industry requirements, with a commitment to animal welfare, biosecurity and quality
  • Proven ability to lead, supervise and develop farm staff
  • Strong planning, organisation and time-management skills
  • Able to interpret production information and spot performance issues
  • Strong communication and reporting skills
  • Demonstrated ability to solve practical farm-level problems, with a proactive approach to improving production
  • Able to demonstrate and verify relevant employment experience and technical capabilities
