An established industrial services business in Perth is adding to its workshop crew and wants Blasters and Painters who already know industrial work. Preparing the surface properly counts as much as the coat on top, and this job rewards people who treat it that way.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run industrial grit blasting and prepare surfaces ahead of coating, meeting the Sa 2.5 and Sa 3 cleanliness levels the job specifies
  • Get substrates ready for protective coating systems
  • Put on zinc-rich primers, high-build epoxy and polyurethane coats, along with other industrial systems as required
  • Spray using airless and conventional gear
  • Measure film thickness with wet film gauges and keep it within spec
  • Do stripe coating and the other specified coating stages once the surface is confirmed clean
  • Work to QA/QC procedures from first blast to final coat
  • Service blasting and painting equipment and sort out faults in the equipment or blast room
  • Load and unload blasting trolleys and keep the work area clean, organised and safe

Requirements & Eligibility

  • A minimum of 3 years' hands-on industrial blasting and painting work
  • Workshop experience in industrial surface treatment is essential
  • Able to demonstrate abrasive blasting to Sa 2.5 and Sa 3 standards
  • Familiar with industrial paint and protective coating systems
  • Has applied zinc-rich primers, high-build epoxies and polyurethanes
  • Confident running airless and conventional spray equipment
  • Can hit specified coating thicknesses accurately
  • Understands wet film measurement and coating quality control
  • Knows the whole surface preparation and coating process
  • Good at troubleshooting and keeping equipment maintained
  • Detail-focused, with consistent workmanship
  • A forklift licence is desirable, and experience operating gantry or overhead cranes is also desirable
