Whanganui has openings for Behavioural Support Workers to walk alongside people with complex behavioural and medical needs. The work is about helping them cope with strong emotions and health challenges, keeping everyone safe, encouraging positive behaviour and building the independence and daily living skills that matter to them.

Key Responsibilities
- Support people with complex behavioural and medical needs to cope with overwhelming emotions and health challenges.
- Promote safety and positive behaviour for the people you support, and help them become more independent and learn skills for daily living.
- Assist with tasks that depend on each person's ability, which may include transportation, employment, finances, meal preparation, shopping, cleaning, showering and medication administration.
- Work a mix of daytime, evening, overnight and weekend shifts.
- Manage risk and respond well when situations become challenging.
Requirements & Eligibility
- Experience in managing challenging behaviours preferred, along with the ability to navigate behaviours that can challenge.
- Availability for flexible shifts, including weekends and wakeover shifts.
- Comfortable and proficient with computers and tablets every day.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Enough physical fitness to give the physical support needed.
- A Full NZ driver's license.
