A Dunedin cafe needs an experienced Barista for a fast-moving, professional setting. The focus is quality coffee, good service and reliable day-to-day cafe operations. Key Responsibilities
- Make espresso-based coffee and hot beverages to cafe recipes and presentation standards, with consistent quality
- Run espresso machines, grinders and other beverage equipment, and carry out routine cleaning and maintenance of the coffee gear
- Keep workflow smooth in busy periods
- Serve customers in a friendly, professional way, taking orders and processing payments accurately
- Help prepare and present cafe food products
- Keep workstations and service areas clean, organised and ready for customers
- Check beverage supplies and help with stock control
- Support opening and closing procedures
- Work safely and follow food hygiene standards
Requirements & Eligibility
- Proven practical barista experience
- Strong technical knowledge of coffee preparation
- Able to hold quality and consistency in busy periods, and work quickly without lowering standards
- Previous hospitality or customer-facing service experience
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- A reliable, committed approach and good teamwork
- A high standard of cleanliness and personal presentation
- An understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
- Flexibility for rostered shifts and weekend work
