A growing workshop in South Australia wants a Motor Mechanic who specialises in European cars. The full-time job is based in Adelaide and covers servicing, diagnostics, repairs and preventative maintenance, helped by modern diagnostic technology and manufacturer-specific information. If you enjoy chasing down tough electrical and mechanical faults, and can get on with the job unsupervised, this one is for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Service, diagnose and repair European cars
  • Trace stubborn mechanical and electrical faults to their cause
  • Work on engines, transmissions, brakes, steering and suspension
  • Use scan tools and computerised diagnostic equipment on electrical and electronic systems
  • Make sense of fault codes, wiring diagrams, technical manuals and manufacturer specifications
  • Strip down, inspect and assess engines, transmissions and other components, replacing or repairing anything worn, damaged or defective
  • Carry out scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance, including oil, filter and fluid changes
  • Handle brake servicing, engine tune-ups and general repairs
  • Rebuild systems after repairs and test them for safe, correct operation
  • Road test and give each job a final quality inspection, then log servicing, repairs and diagnostics accurately
  • Stick to workshop safety procedures and keep workmanship consistently high

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Recognised automotive trade qualification, or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years working professionally as a Motor Mechanic
  • Proven hands-on time with European vehicles, where BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volkswagen, Porsche, Volvo, Land Rover, Range Rover or similar brands is highly regarded
  • Strong fault-finding across mechanical and electrical systems
  • Has used computerised automotive diagnostic equipment and scan tools
  • Can work independently and diagnose and repair faults with confidence
  • Can follow technical documentation, wiring diagrams and manufacturer procedures
  • Good English communication and a current driver's licence
  • Committed to full-time employment in South Australia
  • Must meet applicable requirements for employer-sponsored visa consideration
