A growing multidisciplinary consultancy in Sydney is looking for a Planning / Architectural Draftsperson with dependable technical skills and a sharp eye for detail. The work blends architectural drafting with planning and development application documentation, mostly documenting existing residential properties, including homes that need reinstating or redesigning after fire, tree or vehicle damage.
You will read existing conditions accurately, produce clear drawings and understand how those drawings connect to wider planning requirements. Sponsorship is available for suitably qualified candidates, a useful option for Malaysian drafters with strong AutoCAD and planning experience.

Key Responsibilities
- Record what already stands: residential and medium-density buildings, measured and drawn accurately
- Visit sites, take measurements and convert them into detailed architectural drawings
- Put together preliminary plans and flag structural elements within the documentation
- Write Statements of Environmental Effects and related planning documents after reviewing the relevant LEPs, DCPs and development requirements
- Assemble Development Application packages, submit them through the planning portal and keep DA submissions moving
- Act as the link between designers and consultants covering heritage, bushfire, stormwater, structural, civil, surveying and arboricultural input
- Draw clean, professional 2D AutoCAD sheets using model and paper space, following drafting standards every time
- Proof drawings and documents for accuracy, completeness and consistency, and sort out technical problems promptly
- Explain project requirements to clients, consultants and colleagues
- Plan your own workload, hit agreed deadlines and put forward practical ideas as the consultancy grows
Requirements & Eligibility
- Experience in architectural drafting, planning or a closely related profession
- Proven 2D AutoCAD proficiency
- Hands-on experience producing drawings of existing buildings, taking measurements and site conditions and recording them correctly
- Familiarity with residential and medium-density architectural documentation
- A track record of preparing or supporting Development Applications
- Working knowledge of NSW LEPs, DCPs and planning requirements, and of documents such as Statements of Environmental Effects
- A firm grounding in drafting standards and drawing office procedures
- Precise, detail-focused and good at analysing information and solving technical problems
- Comfortable coordinating several consultants and dealing with clients and project stakeholders
- Well organised, with strong time management and the ability to take ownership of your work with limited supervision
- Professional written and spoken English
- Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe applications
- Relevant qualifications and/or substantial practical industry experience (experienced architectural drafters are encouraged to apply)
